IPOPI’s 11th Primary Immunodeficiencies (PID) Forum took place at the European Parliament, in Brussels on June 27th 2018 and focused on reviewing the Pediatric Regulation to improve access to pediatric medicines focusing on those used in the treatment of PIDs. Participants discussed which improvements in the pediatric legislation are needed to ensure that the treatment needs of pediatric PID patients are met, as well as tried to find a consensus on their views on the pediatric legislation. Recomb Coordinator, Frank Staal was invited to give a talk on Gene therapy for pediatric SCID disease. Frank emphasized the need for harmonization of European legislation especially in the area of pediatric rare diseases that often require multinational trials.
